Local Lawmakers React to Budget Speech

Many lawmakers are glad the governor is providing guidance on where he stands on a package of bills leading Senators hope will end the budget impasse. Until Wednesday Gov. Bruce Rauner had kept mum on the Senate’s grand bargain. Rauner broke that silence Wednesday saying the package needs to lead to job growth and value for taxpayers.

Democratic State Representative Dan Beiser (D-Alton) tells The Big Z a solution must include a number of voices at the table.

Republican State Representative Avery Bourne (R-Raymond) hopes the General Assembly can take up a plan and vote on it this year.

Budget bills are expected to be filed on Friday, according to Bourne.
