The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced three upcoming road projects throughout the Metro-East. The projects include road work on Interstate 70 near Highland, Interstate 55 at the I-55/I-64 interchange in St. Clair County, and David Lane between Godfrey and Brighton in Jersey County. IDOT urges motorists to use extra caution in all work zones.
The David Lane project is scheduled to start today, weather permitting. Motorists will not be able to access David Lane from Illinois Route 111 from now until project completion in Mid May. The closure is needed to construct a new asphalt roadway.
One lane in each direction of I-70 will be closed from Prairie Road to Baumann Road near Highland starting April 3. the closures are needed for lane repairs.
The left lane of I-55 northbound will be closed at the I-55/I-64 interchange between 6 AM and 3 PM each day beginning April 3rd. The closure is needed for maintenance on flood prevention devices. The work should be completed by Mid-May.
