Charges in Jailhouse Overdoses

Story by WBGZ Radio

A St. Louis woman is charged after three female inmates in the Madison County Jail overdosed in a holding cell. The three began showing signs of narcotic intoxication while being held on Wednesday afternoon and were transported to a regional hospital, where they were treated and returned to the custody of the Madison County Jail.

Madison County Sheriff Captain Mike Dixon tells The Big Z the drugs never made it past the holding cell and into the general population.

That person of interest has been identified as 25-year-old Michelle A. Bushue of St. Louis. She is charged with Bringing Contraband into a Penal Institution and four counts of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
