Code Red Sign Up at Library Today

Story by WBGZ Radio

If you aren't signed up for an early warning system for all Madison County residents, emergency responders say there's no time like the present.  "Code Red" was first introduced to the area several years ago.  Its effectiveness in warning subscribers of eminent danger is well documented, and Godfrey is hosting a sign-up today at the Hayner Public Library branch at Alton Square.

Chris Sichra, Godfrey's Public Safety Administrator, tells The Big Z having storms in the forecast might nudge some people to sign up.

He also notes that sirens are most effective if you are outdoors, and recommends having several different notification methods available for when severe weather threatens. Sichra says they will also be giving away weather radios to random visitors. Today's event runs from 10am-1pm.
