Storms Rock Friday Morning

Story by WBGZ Radio

Chrissy Bosomworth photoA line of storms pushed through the Riverbend this morning, knocking down trees and knocking out power for more than 2,100 Ameren customers at one point. The number of customers still without power is decreasing.  An Alton Memorial Hospital Ambulance was hit by a downed tree along Brown Street in Alton near Seminary this morning, but no one was injured.

Cottage Hills damageThe bulk of the power outages are in the Alton and Wood River area this morning, but there are scattered outages throughout the Riverbend.  There are trees and tree limbs down across the area too, which Ameren Illinois spokesman Brian Bretsch tells The Big Z is part of the reason for the outages.

He says with the outages scattered across the region, putting a restoration time on repairs for the entire customer base is difficult, and simply says their linemen are working to restore power as soon as possible.
