Heat To Build Through The Week

Story by WBGZ Radio

Hot and humid weather will cover the area this week, and local health experts remind us to take it easy. An Excessive Heat Watch runs from Tuesday afternoon through Saturday evening. Laura Fowler is a Clinical Educator at OSF St. Anthony's Health Center and says in this heat, it doesn't take long to get overheated.

She tells The Big Z if you have to be outside, take breaks from your work, drinking plenty of water and when you're done try to cool off gradually.

Kids and the elderly are the most susceptible to heat related problems including heat exhaustion, and heat stroke, so health officials advise you make it a point to check on them regularly.  For more high temperature safety tips, or to find a cooling center that will be open, click the link www.Ready.Illinois.Gov
