NAACP Offering Free School Supplies

James Killion Park at Salu in Alton will be host to a Back to School/Stay in School event tomorrow. The event is hosted again this year by the Alton Chapter of the NAACP, and will offer free backpacks and school supplies to nearly 1,000 kids grades K-12. Free bus transportation to the event will also be provided, as well as a picnic lunch 

Rosetta Brown, Secretary of the Alton Chapter of the NAACP tells the Big Z the event should get kids excited to return to school.

As for the activities, the Safari Dental van will provide free dental screenings. There will also be free snow cones, soda, hot dogs, and chips. There will be a bounce house, dunking booth, face painting, and free government cell phones as well. There will also be discounted haircuts and styles.  The event runs from 10am to 12pm.
