Cowboys Running Back and Alton Native Suspended

Story by WBGZ Radio

Dallas Cowboys player, Alton native and NFL's leading rusher from last year, Ezekiel Elliott, has been suspended for six games by the NFL following a domestic abuse investigation from last summer, the league has announced. Elliott is being accused of causing injuries to the face and upper body of his former girlfriend three times in a Columbus, Ohio apartment in July of 2016.

Before Elliott played for the pros, he attended Alton Elementary schools and lived on Brown Street prior to transferring to a private school in St. Louis, then going on to play for Ohio State. Elliott is not being prosecuted for any crime. The NFL pursued this disciplinary action on their own. The league has also discussed mandatory anger management counseling for Elliott.
