Progress Report on New Police Station

Story by WBGZ Radio

Construction on the new Wood River Police Station is about 3 months old, and we should soon see the walls going up. Much of the work to this point has been below the plane of the earth, but according to the City Manager, you will soon be able to recognize a building going up.

The new police station is being constructed at the corner of Madison Avenue and Route 143, on property that was donated to the city by BP. Wood River City Manager Jim Schneider tells The Big Z they have regular meetings to make sure the project stays on schedule.

The $6.8 million project will take about 14 months to complete.
