Huey Lewis Cancels

Story by WBGZ Radio

A Liberty Bank Alton amphitheater concert that was nearly sold out has been cancelled. Huey Lewis announced today that he has been diagnosed with Menier's disease and he is cancelling all future shows, including his scheduled June 24th concert in Alton. Meniere's Disease is a rare disorder of the inner ear which causes episodes of vertigo and hearing loss.

According to a statement released Friday, Lewis lost his hearing at a show in Dallas in February and doctors have advised him to not perform until his condition improves. Liberty Bank Alton Amphitheater Board Chairman Robert Stephan says in spite of today's news it's still shaping up to be an exciting summer at the amphitheater.
