Charges Following Pursuit

Derek A. ScrogginsA 40-year-old Alton man is facing a plethora of new charges following a pursuit through several Riverbend communities Friday evening. Alton Police Public Information Officer Emily Hejna tells The Big Z Derek A. Scroggins of the 600 block of Leonard Street fled at about 6pm Friday after being spotted near Wickenhauser Avenue in the Milton area.

After allegedly fleeing into East Alton and Wood River, Scroggins returned to Leonard Street, where he was taken into custody. He was charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest, and nine felonies: Armed Violence, Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Weapons by a Felon, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (heroin), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (LSD), Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, and Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer. Bond was set at $250,000.
