Drug Sweep Nets Twelve

Story by WBGZ Radio

A recent drug sweep in Jersey County has resulted in the arrest of a dozen suspects, with more still on the radar of law enforcement.  The twelve arrested do not appear to be a part of an organized group, but rather, individuals who have allegedly gotten into the drug trade at various levels, according to Jersey County Sheriff Mark Kallal.

He says most of the arrests this time around involved the fencing of heroin, which continues to make a big impact around the county, and says there is more work to do.

Kallal comments

He says while heroin accounts for most of the drugs, there are still issues with cocaine, cannabis, and other look-alikes.  Five of those arrested and charged with felonies were referred to as John Doe, in some cases to protect their identities as confidential informants.  Those named include Derek E. Fogle, Randa J. Hodges, Travis W. Hutton, Jennifer N. Manning, Fredrick L. Osborn, Leon L. Price III, and Heather L. Womack.
