Dwight Inmates Want To Stay Put

Story by WBGZ Radio

Prison workers at Dwight Correctional Center say the atmosphere within the prison is very positive, but the inmates don't want to move.  AFSCME Local 1133 President Dan Dunlap says moving the inmates will take them further away from their families, which will be detrimental to their recovery.  He says female inmates need their families to help them recover and become productive citizens once they are released.

Governor Pat Quinn wants to shut the Dwight down and move the inmates to Lincoln, Illinois.  The closure has been put on hold thanks to an AFSCME lawsuit, which claims Quinn is moving too fast and that he hasn't considered the safety risks that come along with the closures.
