Don E. Lexow, 82, of Bethalto, passed away at 11:55 am Friday March 17, 2017 with his family by his side.
He was born on May 12, 1934 in Mitchell, IL, the son of the late George and Dorothy (Spathe) Lexow.
He married Shirley Graham on April 27, 1957 in Edwardsville. She survives.
Don worked as an electrician for over 35 years. He served in the United States Army, later becoming a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308. Don was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He and Shirley enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and traveling together.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by a son Mike (Peggy) Lexow of Troy; three daughters Donna Ahlmeyer of Moro, Diane (Chuck) Patterson of Edwardsville, and Tami (Jeff) Pile of Rosewood Heights; a brother Larry (Diane) Lexow; 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grand daughter Taylor Nykole Pile who passed away August 24, 2016; a brother George Lexow; a sister Dorothy McNeely.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until time of memorial mass at 11:30 am Thursday March 23, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. The family would like to express their sincerest thanks for the love, care, and support to OSF St. Anthony’s Hospice.
