Richard T. Disher

Richard T. Disher, age 62, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born April 13, 1955 in Alton, Illinois and was the son of the late

Richard E. and Stephanie (Fania) Disher.

Richard worked as a maintenance supervisor for the City of Alton Park and Recreation for many years as well as coaching soccer. He was also a member of the Grandpa Gang, The Alton OWL’s Club, The Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Bush Pilots Motorcycle Club, AMRA Racer and held several world records as well as winning the Harley-Davidson stock evolution class at the Sturgis 50th Anniversary in 1990 and Daytona 50th Anniversary in 1991.

Richard is survived by two children, a son, Richard J. Disher of Alton, and a daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany Disher and Matthew Schindel of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Jace Disher, Richard Disher, Zada Disher-Schindel, and Levon Disher-Schindel; and two sisters, Angela (Randy) McDonough of California, Theresa Disher-Kettlehake of Alton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Joyce Von Szilassy.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 9, 2018, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Elias-Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Jeremy Paulin O.M.V. officiating.

Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Christmas Wonderland and Hartbauer/McBride Memorial Foundation.
