Edward F. Berkemeier, age 71, passed away at 7:45 pm on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehab in Jerseyville, IL.
He was born on September 10, 1940, in Plum Hill, IL, son of the late Martin H. & Catherine (Flauaus) Berkemeier.
He married Vera M. (Marshall) on April 30, 1965 in Wood River, IL. She passed away on August 16, 2011.
Ed served his country in the United States Army. He was employed at Schoeneweis Tool and Die in Wood River for several years as a Machinist. He then owned his own business working as a machinist out of Grafton, IL. He loved to fish, hunt, dabble in antique dealing and play the Lotto with his wife.
He is survived by a step granddaughter, Tobi Burton of Brandon, FL; two nephews, Ron Lambie of Winchester, IL and John & his wife Sharon Lambie of Woodson, IL; two nieces, Cheryl Wade of Winchester, IL and Brenda & her husband Will Miller of Denver, CO
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; step son, Rodney Burton and a step granddaughter, Jennifer Burton.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am till time of service at 10:30 am, Tuesday, June 18, 2012 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Garden in Edwardsville, Il.
