Amanda M. Hamilton, 89, passed away at 3:05 pm on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born on December 13, 1922 in Levinworth, KS, the daughter of Robert and Stella E. (Naylor) Nolan.
She married Hillard “Ham” L. Hamilton on November 6, 1943 in St. Louis, MO. He survives.
Amanda worked as an inspector at Olin Corporation until her retirement in 1960. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. She enjoyed bowling, traveling during retirement and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandson.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen and Dennis Smith of Bethalto; a grandson, Michael Ely of Bethalto; her nephew, Robert and Fran Nolan of Gillespie and her nieces, Dolores and Noble Watkins of Godfrey and Awanda Marth of Bethalto.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 pm Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto where funeral services will be at 10 am on Monday with Pastor Mark Hofferber officiating.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Zion Lutheran Church.
