Aloysius S. Dana, 94, went to be with the Lord at 12:15 am Thursday, August 2, 2012 on Thursday, at his home.
He was born on March 22, 1918 in Crystal City, MO to Charles and Gertrude (Bequette) Dana.
On May 7, 1949 he was united in marriage to Ruth Felden at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Wood River, IL. She passed away on August 10, 2006.
Al served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II and was stationed in Europe as a ball turret gunner on a B17. He worked as a foreman at Laclede Steel for over 30 years retiring in 1978. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. He was an avid fisherman, loved Cardinals baseball, golf, gardening and music.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Larry Hellrung of Alton and Jackie and Mike Hudock of Bethalto; two grandsons, Scot and Danielle Hellrung and Mike Hudock; two great grandchildren, Mariah and Abigail Hellrung; five sisters and a brother-in-law, Gertrude King of Moline, Betty Briskovich of Bunker Hill, Bobbie Katich of Merlin, OR, Rita Smith of Bunker Hill and Helen and Steve Zink of Springfield, IL and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles Dana and Joseph Dana and two sisters, Bernice Dana and Margaret Oldenettel.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. A funeral Mass will be at 10 am at Our Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Monday, August 6, 2012 with Father Tom Liebler officiating.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL.
Memorials may be given to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church Building Fund.
