The Civic Memorial Eagles opened the playoffs with a 71-31 win over Cahokia in girls basketball Tuesday night at the Class 3A Roxana Regional.

The Eagles only led 4-to-3 after one quarter but then scored 29 points in the second quarter to take a 33-15 lead at halftime.

Also in the first half freshman Anna Hall suffered a neck injury and left the gym on a stretcher.  She was taken by ambulance to Children's Hospital in St. Louis.  She apparently suffered no structural damage and was released late Tuesday night/Wednesday morning from the hospital.  Hall's injury came with 6:22 remaining in the second quarter.
