AL Wins Another Mid-Summer Classic - All-Time Series Now Tied at 43

-- 88th MLB All-Star Game --

The American League edged the National League, 2-1 in 10-innings last night (Tuesday) in the MLB All-Star Game.

 

Seattle's Robinson Cano hit a home run off of Chicago Cubs closer Wade Davis leading off the top of the 10th to break a 1-1 tie.

 

>>Checking the Cardinals All-Stars:

Each team used 9 pitchers in the 10-inning game.  Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez pitched two scoreless innings - the 3rd & 4th innings.  The righthander struck out 4 batters and allowed one hit and one walk.

 

The only run for the National League came in the 6th inning on a Yadier Molina solo home run.  It's the first Cards player to hit a home run in an All-Star Game since Reggie Smith in 1974.

 

The AL outhit the NL, 10-7.  Each team left 8 men on base.

 

*The American League now has won 5-All-Star Games in a row to tie the all-time series at 43 wins apiece.  After 88 All-Star Games, the series now stands at 43-and-43 with 2-ties.  The total runs are even too with 361-runs scored for each team (all-time) dating back to the first All-Star Game in 1933 at old Comiskey Park in Chicago.
