Sunday Sports Update

The Cardinals are in Pittsburgh for the weekend. The Cards lost Friday 5-2 but came back last night with a 4-0 win. Pitcher Lance Lynn who has not had a good season so far tested out a left-handing hitting style last night to success. Matheny said it was possibly Lynn's best at bat of his career. The Cards play again today at 12:30

 

FRONTIER LEAGUE:

 

The Gateway Grizzlies are at home in Sauget playing the Evansville Otters this weekend. In a game you heard on the Big Z Friday, the Grizzlies won 6-5, but last night the Otters took the game 3-2 ending the Grizzlies 5 game winning streak. Game three is tonight at 6.

 

RACING:

 

Today Nascar is heading to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Nascar will go 301 laps at 3pm.

 

Also in racing today, if you aren't watching Nascar, you'll want to tune into the Big Z for INDY car racing. Indy is in Toronto for Honda Indy Car racing, pre-race coverage starts at 2:30, race time is 3pm.

 

 

 

 

 

-Legion Baseball -

 

Alton Post 126 Jr. Legion (26-13) is playing in the District 22 Playoff Tournament this weekend hosted by Valmeyer.

 

Alton played two games in the tourney yesterday.  Game 1 for Post 126 was against Highland #1.  The Junior Legion tourney is taking place at Borsch Park in Valmeyer (IL) throughout the weekend.
