Saturday Sports Update

The Cardinals are in Cincinnati for the weekend. The last place Reds took the Cards last night 3-2. Mike Leake started for his 8th game in a row. The game was tied 1-1 in the 3rd, but the Cardinals couldn't come back from Cincinnati scoring 2 runs in the 5th inning after hitting 5 singles back to back. The Cardinals have scored two runs or less in 6 of their past 8 games.

 

They play again tonight at 6 and again tomorrow at noon.

 

FRONTIER LEAGUE:

 

The Gateway Grizzlies are in Normal this weekend. The 22-49 Grizzlies lost last night's opener 7-3. Gateway led 2-1, but couldn't come back after the 33-36 Cornbelters tied it up in the third, and went on to a 3-run fifth inning. They play again tonight at 6:30.

 

 

LEGION BASEBALL:

 

The Great Lakes Regional continues in Ohio. The Metro East Bears (Alton, Eville) lost 10-2 against Midland, Michigan Post 165 yesterday. The Bears loss moves them into an elimination game against Danville to be played today at noon.

 

NASCAR:

Tomorrow in Nascar the I LOVE NEW YORK 355 Race, from Watkins Glen International Speedway in New York. Race time is 3pm.
