In other prep action at the 2017 Macoupin County Volleyball Tournament, The Carlinville High School Lady Cavaliers fell to Staunton in the Championship game, to finish second overall, followed by the North Mac Panthers in 3rd.

 

The Alton Lady Redbirds lost their neutral match to Breese Central 2 games to 0 at the Highland Invitational tourney.

 

In college Volleyball the SIUE Cougars won its 4th straight Ohio valley Conference game with a 4 set win over Southeast Missouri. The Cougars are 14-4 overall and are 4-2 in the OVC.

 

In the Game you heard right here on the Big Z, the Fighting Illini fell to the Iowa Hawkeyes 45-16 yesterday. Illinois tried relying on its running game and the team finished with 200 total rushing yards on 30 attempts. The St. Louis Blues defeated the Dallas Stars 4-2 at Scottrade Center last night thanks to first period goals by Carl Gunnarsson, Joel Edmundson and Jaden Schwartz. Schwartz had a goal and assist, and Vladimir Tarasenko scored for St. Louis and goalie Jake Allen made 38 saves to bring the Blue Notes to 2-0-0. Next up for St. Louis is an away game tomorrow at the New York Islanders at noon.
