In College baseball, The Murray State Racers beat the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Cougars 9-8 yesterday. The loss drops the Cougars to 1 and 2 in Ohio Valley Conference play and 5 and 8 overall. Murray State improves to 2 and 1 in the OVC and 9 and 7 overall.


In College Softball, The Lewis and Clark Community College Trailblazers shutout Mercer County College of New Jersey 9-0 at Snowbird Softball's Grand Park at Market Commons Complex in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. The Trailblazers now have a couple of double headers on the way. LC is set to take on Herkimer College of New York today at noon and then play Onondaga College of Syracuse at 3. Tomorrow the Trailblazers will play Onondaga at 11 a.m. followed by Delaware Tech at 1.


The St. Louis Cardinals fell to the Miami Marlins 7-3 in spring training play. The win puts the Marlins at 9 and 5 and drops the Cards down to 6 and 8. Michael Wacha threw 68 pitches in his third start of the spring. The Cardinals’ right-hander allowed four runs on six hits, giving up a home run and throwing a wild pitch. St. Louis now is set to take on the Washington Nationals today at 12:05.


The St. Louis Blues handed the L.A. Kings a big 7-2 loss yesterday. The loss puts the Kings one point behind Colorado for the second Western Conference wild card spot, two points ahead of the Blues. The Blues saw goals from Robert Bortuzzo, Colton Parayko, Alex Pietrangelo, Ivan Barbashev, Vladimir Tarasenko, Kyle Brodziak, and Jaden Schwartz. Goalie Jake Allen made 38 saves on 40 shots. Next up St. Louis continues their road trip tomorrow at 9 p.m. against the Ducks.
