Alton shutout Collinsville, 6-0 last night (Wednesday) in senior legion baseball at Gordon Moore Park. Righthander Blake Novack threw a no-hitter for Alton Post 126 as they improved to 6-3 on the season.
Novack worked 7 innings – walking three while striking out 13 batters on the night. Catcher Nick Paulda went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Alton also got RBI’s from Shane Mathews, Austin Stilts, and Matt Halliday. Nick Droste went 2-for-3 at the plate.
The Alton Junior Legion team also beat Collinsville last night at Gordon Moore Park in extra innings. Alton pushed a run across in the (bottom of the) 9th inning to edge Collinsville, 3-2.
Meanwhile at the Bethalto Sports Complex Wednesday night – Post 214 lost in extra innings. Freeburg-Smithton outlasted Bethalto, 10-8 in 8 innings. Bethalto Post 214 falls to 6-5 on the year.
And Belleville Post 58 won its 20th game of the year last night at Troy. Belleville edged Troy Post 708, 4-3 to improve to 20-and-5 on the season.
