Alton Post 126 eliminated host Pinckneyville Thursday at the American Legion Baseball Fifth Division Tournament. Ryan Gvillo blasted three home runs as Alton pounded Pinckneyville, 13-3 in a seven inning game that called due to the ten-run rule. Mike Sabatino was the winning pitcher.
Gvillo hit a solo home run in the first inning – then came a grand slam in the 6th – and he finished the game with a 2-run walk off blast in the 7th inning for Alton as they improved to 23-12 on the year.
Alton was scheduled to face Effingham last night – but that game was postponed due to rain…..they will play today at 1 pm today. The winner faces Fairview Heights at 7 pm tonight.
Gvillo finished the game with 3 home runs and 7 rbi’s. Shane Mathews and Austin Stilts added three hits apiece as Alton outhit Pinckneyville, 13-8.
