The Chicago Cubs clipped the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 on Saturday at Wrigley Field. Cubs outfielder Reed Johnson laid down a pinch-hit, RBI bunt with runners on the corners and two outs in the bottom of the 7th to put the Chicago on top for good. Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano hit a two-run triple in the first inning and starter Jeff Samardzija struck out seven in six innings of work to pick up the win and end the Cubs two game losing streak. Carlos Marmol earned his 13th save of the season. Cardinals starter Joe Kelly was tagged with his 4th loss of the season after allowing three runs in six and a one-third innings of work.
The Cards and Cubs wrap up their weekend series this afternoon at the friendly confines. Adam Wainwright will be on the mound today for the Cardinals, while the Cubs sent Paul Maholm to the bump for the rubbermatch. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:20 this afternoon in the windy city.
